Kyudo at Florida Budokan – Traditional Japanese Archery
Kyudo (Japanese Archery) is among Japan’s most traditional archery arts. At Florida Budokan, students practice the Yosoku style under the official membership of the Dai Nippon Kyudokai. Our Seibukan Kyudojo is distinctive—it is the one and only Kyudo training hall in Florida, designed for safeguarding and teaching the classical wisdom of the Japanese way of the bow.
Kyudo – Mindful Archery Practice
the art of Japanese archery emphasizes posture, controlled breathing, formal respect, and a meditative approach to action. Every class incorporates zazen-style meditation, helping practitioners cultivate awareness, calmness, and mental clarity. Unlike Western-style archery, Kyudo views each release as a reflection of inner harmony.

Traditional Karate & Shotokan Karate at Makoto Dojo
Karate at the Florida Budokan organization is delivered using authentic Shotokan training techniques, supported by the Kokusai Budoin organization and the GIMA-HA Shotokan-Ryu Karate Association of Japan. These strong lineages link students to historical martial heritage, including leadership descendants of the Tokugawa Shogunate.
Developing Character through Shotokan Karate
Shotokan Karate training emphasizes fundamental techniques, kata (forms), and controlled sparring. Classes integrate strength training with character building—honor, patience, discipline, and bravery.

Iaido at Kashimon Dojo – Traditional Sword Art
the art of Iaido is taught at Kashimon dojo through the tradition of Toyama Ryu Iaido under the Toyama Ryu Battodo Association. Our dojo is distinguished as the first official Toyama Ryu Iaido branch outside Japan.
Iaido – Precision and Control
The art focuses on exact techniques for drawing, striking, and sheathing. Students also train in Batto-do, through the ZNBDR, expanding their understanding of Japanese Swordsmanship.

Traditional Japanese Swordsmanship – Skills and Heritage

Tuition and Membership Information
Our tuition is set to support high-quality training and community access.

Dojo cleaning (soji) and upkeep (samu) are expected responsibilities, practicing discipline and responsibility.
